One of the things we are most passionate about as a group are the charities we support. This section outlines the work that these organizations are doing, and gives you an idea of the kind of help they need. Please support them in any way you can.
THE NORTH YORK WOMEN’S SHELTER
This is a dynamic shelter that serves clients from every ethnic, cultural and economic group. This shelter houses and helps more than 300 women and more than 700 children each and every year.
There are currently 40 people (abused women and their children) currently in their shelter and some of those women are being put into community housing before Christmas - a good thing since no one wants to spend Christmas in a shelter.
The have recently lost their major corporate sponsor, which provided essential move in items like new towels, sheets, pillowcases, pots, pans, baking sheets, bowls, spatulas, toasters, shampoo etc. to all the women as a special moving out/Christmas gift. Their sponsor has been ordered by their head office in the US to switch focuses and instead donate their money to a different cause. As such, none of these women will receive a thing this holiday season.
Our need is great and urgent. If anyone you know can help provide some of these items? If you tell everyone you know about this emergency, maybe they will buy 1item each and we will be that much closer to providing for these women and their children.
Even a single toothbrush can make the world of difference in the lives of abused women and their children. These women still have bruises and stitches that are healing and many have had to flee their homes with only the clothes they were wearing. They and their children have absolutely nothing. They desperately require assistance and support.
We are committed to working day and night to acquire these items. Please tell everyone you know about this emergency and our determination to provide these basic necessities for these abused women and children.
